Rangamati, Dec 26 (V7N) – Two tourist boats experienced separate incidents on Kaptai Lake in Rangamati on Thursday afternoon, near Subalong and the Rangamati town area, though no casualties were reported.
According to Mohammad Hasan Imam, Police Inspector of the Tourist Police, Rangamati Zone, around 4:30 pm in Subalong, water from a larger boat caused a smaller tourist boat to take on water. The tourists aboard quickly moved to a nearby boat, preventing a major accident.
In a separate incident around 4 pm near Rangamati town, a panicked tourist jumped into the lake as two boats were passing each other. The tourist was immediately rescued with the help of a nearby boat, and no injuries occurred.

Experts and authorities stress the importance of strict safety measures, including mandatory life jackets for tourists, proper training for boat operators, adherence to navigation rules, and avoidance of excessive speed or risky maneuvers.
Authorities also recommend regular supervision and public awareness campaigns to ensure safer boating on Kaptai Lake, a key tourist attraction in the region. The incidents serve as a reminder of the potential dangers for tourists and the need for heightened vigilance.
