Mymensingh, Dec 29 (V7N) — The Agniveena intercity passenger train derailed after miscreants removed a section of the railway track in Gafargaon, Mymensingh on Sunday night (December 28), causing disruption across the Dhaka-Mymensingh rail route. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported.

Railway sources said the derailment occurred after a 15-foot section of the track was removed. As a result, the Agniveena train remains stranded at the site, while the Jamuna Express is stuck in Mymensingh. Additionally, two commuter trains on the Dhaka-Dewanganj route are unable to start their journey, one at Kamalapur and the other at Gafargaon.

Passengers expressed extreme hardship, particularly in the winter cold. One passenger described the disruption as politically motivated, stating that ordinary people always bear the brunt of such incidents.

Railway officials have assured that repairs will begin soon to restore normal train operations on the affected routes.
