Pabna, Dec 29 (V7N) — A total of 32 candidates have submitted nomination papers across five parliamentary constituencies in Pabna district for the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election, according to election officials.
Nomination submissions concluded on Monday as part of the electoral process for the 13th National Parliamentary Election. District Returning Officer and Pabna Deputy Commissioner Shahed Mostafa confirmed at around 9:00 pm that 32 candidates formally filed their nomination papers in the district’s five constituencies.
Of the total candidates, seven submitted nominations in Pabna-1, five in Pabna-2, eight in Pabna-3, eight in Pabna-4, and four in Pabna-5. Earlier, 35 aspirants had collected nomination forms across the constituencies.
In Pabna-1 constituency, nomination papers were filed by VP Shamsur Rahman, BNP-nominated candidate and former general secretary of Sathia Upazila BNP; Barrister Najibur Rahman Momen, Jamaat-e-Islami nominee and son of late Amir Nizami; Professor Abu Sayeed as an independent candidate; Yunus Ali, independent and former joint secretary of the central Tati Dal; Masudul Haque, independent and a member of the Jubo Dal central committee; Khairun Nahar Khanam, independent and former convener of Sathia Upazila BNP; and Md Abdul Gani from Islami Andolon Bangladesh.
In Pabna-2, candidates include AKM Selim Reza Habib, member of BNP’s central executive committee; Hesab Uddin, Ameer of Sujanagar Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami; Afzal Hossain Khan Qasemi from Islami Andolon Bangladesh; Mehdi Hasan Rubel of Jatiya Party; and Nasir Uddin from Gano Forum.
The Pabna-3 constituency saw nominations from agriculturist Hasan Zafir Tuhin, BNP-nominated candidate and president of the central Krishak Dal; KM Anwarul Islam, independent and former MP as well as former president of Chatmohar Upazila BNP; Maulana Ali Asghar, Jamaat-e-Islami nominee and Ameer of Bhangura Upazila Jamaat; Hasanul Islam Raja of Gono Odhikar Parishad; Mir Nadim Mohammad Dablu of Jatiya Party; Sardar Asha Parvez of Gano Forum; Abdul Khalek from Islami Andolon Bangladesh; and Mahbubur Rahman Joy Chowdhury of Bangladesh Supreme Party.
In Pabna-4, nomination papers were submitted by Habibur Rahman Habib, BNP-nominated candidate and convener of Pabna district BNP; Professor Abu Taleb Mondol, Jamaat-e-Islami nominee and Ameer of Pabna district Jamaat; Sirajul Islam Sardar, independent and former president of Pabna district BNP; Zakaria Pintu, independent and former general secretary of Ishwardi municipal BNP; Maulana Anowar Shah of Islami Andolon Bangladesh; Comrade Sohag Hossain of the Communist Party of Bangladesh; Saiful Azad Mallik of Jatiya Party; and Shahnaz Haque of Nagorik Oikya.
In the Pabna-5 constituency, candidates include Advocate Shamsur Rahman Shimul Bishwas, BNP-nominated candidate and adviser to the BNP chairperson; Maulana Iqbal Hossain, Jamaat-e-Islami nominee and Naib-e-Ameer of Pabna district Jamaat; Nazmul Hossain from Islami Andolon Bangladesh; and Abdul Majid Mollah of AB Party.
Election officials stated that the next stages of the electoral process, including scrutiny of nomination papers, will proceed according to the announced schedule as preparations continue to ensure a free, fair, and orderly election in the district.
