Teknaf, Jan 14 (V7N) — The Bangladesh Coast Guard has arrested two drug smugglers in a special operation in Teknaf and seized a massive quantity of Yaba tablets valued at around 4 crore taka, officials confirmed on Wednesday.
Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq, media officer of the Coast Guard, said the operation was conducted on Tuesday at around 1 pm in the Naf River near Nightangpara, following a secret tip-off. A suspicious wooden boat was stopped and searched, leading to the recovery of 75,000 Yaba tablets, worth approximately 3 crore 75 lakh taka.
Two smugglers aboard the boat were taken into custody. The seized Yaba, the boat, and the arrested individuals have been handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station for further legal action.
Lt. Commander Haq added that such special operations to combat drug smuggling will continue in the future to ensure law and order along the border areas.
