Patuakhali, June 22: A rare species of snake has been spotted on the beach of the tourist destination Kuakata. 
 
The snake has a yellow underside and a black upper body with striking yellow touches, making it very attractive. Its name is the Yellow-Bellied Sea Snake. On Thursday (June 20), afternoon, members of the Animal Lovers team rescued this snake from the eastern part of the beach near the casuarina forest.
 
KM Bacchu, a member of the environmental and volunteer animal welfare organization Animal Lovers of Patuakhali's Kalapara team, said that the snake's beauty has drawn many tourists to the beach. Upon receiving information from tour guides, the snake was rescued alive. After initial treatment, it was released into the sea with the help of the Forest Department in the evening. He mentioned that a similar snake had been found on Kuakata beach from the sea before.
 
Ruman Imtiaz Tushar, president of the Tour Operator Association of Kuakata (TOAK), stated that these snakes reside and grow in the sea. The Yellow-Bellied Sea Snake has been seen on Kuakata beach for the past two years.
 
Sagarika Smriti, an associate researcher at the international research organization WorldFish EcoFish 2, explained that this snake is the fourth most venomous among all land and sea snakes worldwide. The name of the snake is the Yellow-Bellied Sea Snake. It is rarely seen. Last June, this snake was spotted on Cox's Bazar beach and Kuakata beach.
 
Abul Kalam Azad, Range Officer of the Mohipur Forest Department, said that the snake has been instructed to be released into the sea.
