Kolapara, June 26 (V7N)- A training workshop for sea-going fishermen was conducted in Kolapara, Patuakhali, focusing on marine biodiversity conservation, fisheries management, and ocean safety. Thirty fishermen and sailors participated in the workshop. The workshop was organized under the EcoFish-2 activity of WorldFish funded by USAID.
 
At the conclusion of the two-day training workshop held in the Fisheries Bungalow Hall of Alipore, Patuakhali, life jackets were distributed among all sea-going fishermen.
 
Present at the event were Mr. Shakil, Manager of BFDC of Alipore Fishery Port, Mr. Shahidul Islam, Project Coordinator of TMSS, Mr. Bachchu, General Secretary of Alipore Fisheries Management Committee, and many others.
 
Before this, the international research organization EcoFish-2 provided training to these sea-going fishermen. Assistant researcher Mr. Bokhtiar Rahman, Field Facilitator of TMSS Mr. Abul Bashar, and Marine Fisheries Officer of Kolapara Fisheries Department Mr. Ashiqur Rahman were present.
 
Assistant researcher Mr. Bokhtiar Rahman of EcoFish-2 stated that after completing training for these sea-going fishermen, life jackets were distributed aiming for their safety in life.
