Patuakhali, Aug 30 (V7N) - In the remote villages of Kalapara, Patuakhali, a handwritten community newspaper named Andharmanik is illuminating the lives of ordinary people by showcasing their struggles and successes. Due to financial limitations, the newspaper is currently published every two months. The local community is urging for assistance to enable the publication to be released weekly or bi-weekly.

Hassan Parvez, a day laborer from West Sonatala village in Nilganj Union, supports his family through work at brick kilns and various households. Despite lacking formal higher education, he has always had a passion for writing. In 2019, following advice from journalist Rafiqul Islam Montu, who covers coastal areas, Parvez launched the handwritten newspaper on May 1. Named after the nearby Andharmanik River, the paper features articles written by 15 local laborers. Parvez personally distributes the newspaper throughout the rural area.

The publication has become popular among local readers, leading to demands for it to be issued more frequently. Parvez intends to continue the newspaper indefinitely and hopes to shift to a monthly publication if given the necessary support.

There is a widespread expectation that the government will support this distinctive handwritten newspaper to help ensure its longevity and expansion.
