Netrakona, Sep 05 (V7N) - Asadul Haque Bhuiyan, the General Secretary of the Awami League's Kenduya Upazila branch and a former mayor, has been apprehended by a special team from RAB-14.
 
On Thursday, September 5, Squadron Leader Md. Ashraful Kabir from the RAB-14 Kishoreganj Camp (CPC-2) confirmed the arrest through a press release.
 
The arrest is linked to a case involving an attack and vandalism at a businessman’s shop in Kenduya, where goods worth 34 lakh taka were reported stolen.
 
RAB detained Bhuiyan in the Asad Avenue area of Mohammadpur, Dhaka, around 3:30 PM on Wednesday, September 4.
 
According to RAB, on July 28, Bhuiyan led a group that attacked and damaged a store named "Tanzim Shopping Point and Gift Corner" in Kenduya, taking away goods worth 34 lakh taka.
 
Following the incident, the store owner, Md. Mobarak Hossain, filed a case with Kenduya Police Station under the speedy trial act on August 21. The case accuses former local MP and central Awami League Organizational Secretary Ashim Kumar Ukil, his wife former MP Apu Ukil, Asadul Haque Bhuiyan, and 448 other Awami League members.
 
Squadron Leader Md. Ashraful Kabir also noted that Bhuiyan admitted his involvement during initial questioning. He has been transferred to Kenduya Police Station for further legal procedures.
 
RAB is continuing its efforts to apprehend the other suspects involved in the case.
