Dhaka, Nov 02 (V7N)- The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations for next year will be postponed to April, approximately two months later than the usual schedule. This change is anticipated to push the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) exams to June.
After returning to the traditional February timeline last year, the ongoing effects of the Covid-19 pandemic continue to disrupt the academic calendar, necessitating this latest delay. Traditionally, SSC exams occur in early February, followed by HSC exams in early April. In 2023, the SSC and equivalent exams commenced on April 30, and although efforts were made to return to the regular schedule in 2024, the situation has led to another postponement.
A Dhaka Education Board official, speaking anonymously, noted that political instability has significantly hindered academic activities in educational institutions, making it difficult to complete the syllabus on time. Furthermore, there have been requests from both students and guardians for a delay in the exams. As a result, the decision was made to conduct the SSC and equivalent examinations after Eid-ul-Fitr.
Sources within the board indicated that next year's SSC and equivalent exams will cover the entire syllabus, while HSC and equivalent exams will follow a revised syllabus similar to that of 2023. All exams are expected to be conducted on a 100-mark basis.
