DHAKA, May 07 (V7N) – The National Primary Education Week-2025 is scheduled to commence on Saturday, May 10th, under the theme "Ensure quality education, Build a Discrimination-Free Bangladesh."
The inauguration ceremony will be held at the Directorate of Primary Education in Dhaka. A key highlight of the event will be the Primary Education Medal-2024 award ceremony, recognizing outstanding contributions to primary education.
Education Adviser Professor Dr Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar is expected to inaugurate the week and distribute the Primary Education Medals 2024 as the chief guest. The event will be chaired by Primary and Mass Education Adviser Professor Dr Bidhan Ranjan Roy Podder.
Primary and Mass Education Secretary Abu Taher Md. Masud Rana will attend as a special guest, and Abu Noor Md. Shamsuzzaman, Director General of the Directorate of Primary Education, will deliver the welcome address.
The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education introduced the Primary Education Medal to foster children's talents, motivate educators and staff, and acknowledge their dedicated efforts in the field. The medal distribution program has been ongoing since 1985, and this year, the best individuals and institutions have been selected across 14 categories.
A total of 150 awards will be presented, recognizing first, second, and third-place winners. Of these, 108 awards were given to students across 18 categories (for both boys and girls) in sports, cultural events, and subject-based quiz competitions. An additional 42 awards will be distributed to top performers in 14 individual and institutional categories.
Student winners in first, second, and third place will receive medals and certificates along with cash prizes of TK 30,000, TK 25,000, and TK 20,000, respectively. Top individual winners will be awarded medals and certificates worth TK 50,000, while the best institutions will receive crests and certificates valued at TK 50,000.
Following the national-level inauguration in Dhaka, upazila-level inauguration ceremonies will be held, including discussion meetings with local administrations and education patrons. Handwriting and drawing competitions for students, along with various educational and cultural programs, will also take place at the local level.
Awards will be presented in individual categories such as Best District Primary Education Officer, Best Primary Teachers Training Institute (PTI) Superintendent, Best Upazila Education Officer, Best PTI Instructor, Best Upazila Resource Centre (URC) Instructor, Best Assistant Upazila Primary Education Officer, Best Headmaster, Best Headmistress, Best Assistant Teacher, and Best Cub Teacher. Institutional awards will recognize the Best Employee, the Best PTI, and the Best Primary School. Winners of inter-school sports and cultural competitions will also be honored.
