Rajshahi, Dec 14 (V7N) – A protest march and rally were held at Rajshahi University on Friday afternoon against the shooting of Sharif Osman Hadi, a prospective independent candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency and spokesperson of the Inqilab Mancha.
The protest march began at 4:30 pm from the university’s Shaheed Minar premises and moved through several campus roads before passing Kajla Gate and concluding at a rally at Talaimary intersection.
Speakers at the rally demanded the immediate identification, arrest, and prosecution of those responsible for the attack. They warned that failure to take swift action would lead to tougher protest programs. Addressing the assailants, speakers said they would face a strong response for the attack.
The demonstrators also urged the interim government to act promptly to ensure justice and public safety.
Following the rally, special prayers were offered for the speedy recovery of the injured Osman Hadi.
Among those present at the protest were former RUCSU Vice President and Rajshahi University Islami Chhatra Shibir President Mostakur Rahman Zahid, former RUCSU General Secretary Salauddin Ammar, Rajshahi University Islami Chhatra Shibir General Secretary Mujahid Faisal, along with a large number of students and activists.
