Dhaka, Jan 17 (V7N)— BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has alleged that the Awami League's role in the Liberation War was less significant than that of other parties and accused the ruling party of undermining the spirit of the war. He made these remarks during a programme at the KIB auditorium in Dhaka on Friday afternoon.

Rizvi criticised the Awami League's claims about upholding the spirit of the Liberation War, stating, "The Liberation War was not fought by the Awami League alone; it was a collective effort involving all parties. Despite their rhetoric, they have disrespected the dignity of the Liberation War."

He also accused Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of being a "model of corruption," claiming, "There is no sector untouched by her corruption. Even her daughter, Tulip, despite growing up in a corruption-free environment, is allegedly involved in corruption due to family influence." Rizvi alleged that Tulip, now a minister in London, has continued corrupt practices, which he attributed to what he called "genetic traits."

The BNP leader further questioned India’s support for Sheikh Hasina, asking, "On what basis was a corrupt leader like Sheikh Hasina given shelter in India? She has no political ideology, only a narrative of development used to launder money abroad."

The comments come amid heightened political tensions in Bangladesh as the country prepares for the upcoming national elections.
