Dhaka, Jan 22 (V7N)— BNP Standing Committee Member Nazrul Islam Khan has stated that the party may consider launching a movement if the interim government rejects their demand for elections. He made the remarks after a meeting with leaders of the Khilafat Majlis on Wednesday.

Speaking to reporters, Nazrul Islam Khan mentioned that like-minded parties, including the BNP, are aligned in their call for elections to be held by 2025. The meeting was also attended by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and senior leaders of the Khilafat Majlis.

The Khilafat Majlis emphasised the urgency of completing necessary reforms and holding elections by 2025, warning that delays would increase public frustration. "The people are eagerly waiting to exercise their voting rights," they said.

Nazrul Islam Khan further assured that parties that have supported the BNP in past movements will be given due recognition in the future.

When asked about the potential impact of the newly elected US president on Bangladesh, Khan remarked, "The election outcome will not significantly affect Bangladesh. Relations between the two countries will remain stable."

The BNP and its allies have been vocal in demanding timely elections under an impartial system, with the 2025 timeline being a key part of their agenda.
