Rajshahi, Feb 07, (V7N) - The newly appointed District Commissioner (DC) of Rajshahi, Afia Akhtar, held a meeting with government officials and civil society representatives in Durgapur. During the meeting, District Jamaat leader Muhammad Nuruzaaman Liton presented six proposals to the District Commissioner.
The meeting, held at the Upazila Parishad hall on Thursday afternoon, was attended by various local leaders and officials. Among the six proposals, Liton suggested the following:
- Revamping the Hoja River to create a recreational spot.
- Opening government water bodies for local fishermen to allow unrestricted fishing for their livelihood.
- Ensuring healthcare services at community clinics.
- Providing opportunities for the renovation of privately owned ponds.
- Offering government assistance in constructing multi-story buildings for local journalists.
- Emphasizing merit-based nominations for educational institutions, prioritizing true education enthusiasts over political considerations.
The meeting was chaired by Upazila Executive Officer, Sabreena Sharmin, and led by Primary Education Officer Asaduzzaman. Additional District Commissioner (Revenue), Zubayer Hossain, and other local officials were also present.
Liton, an Assistant Secretary of Jamaat in the district, highlighted the importance of these proposals for the development of Durgapur. Leaders from the local BNP and Jamaat organizations also attended the meeting.
