Dhaka, Feb 24 (V7N) – Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Professor Mia Golam Parwar has accused India’s ruling party of being involved in a conspiracy against Bangladesh.
He made these remarks at a seminar titled "From Language Movement to Mass Uprising: Unstoppable Bangladesh", organized by Dhaka Metropolitan South Jamaat at the National Press Club on Monday afternoon.
Allegations Against India
Parwar claimed, “Do not write on behalf of those who do not want to give us water, who do border killing, and who discriminate in trade. We will have friends abroad, but we will not have a master.”
His comments appear to reference ongoing disputes between Bangladesh and India over issues such as water sharing, border security, and trade policies.
Call for Free Elections & Warning on Dr. Yunus Issue
The Jamaat leader also said his party was ready to support free and fair elections but warned against political interference in the case of Nobel laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus.
"We are ready to help the current government in organizing free and fair elections. I warn those trying to gain their interests by pressuring Dr. Yunus—the people will once again form a movement against you. Do not conspire to achieve your goals by destroying Dr. Yunus."
Jamaat's Political Vision
Concluding his speech, Parwar emphasized that Jamaat-e-Islami does not seek power for control but for public service.
"If the people give responsibility to Jamaat-e-Islami, Jamaat will not be a ruler, but a servant."
The remarks come at a time of political uncertainty in Bangladesh, with increasing debates over governance, elections, and international relations.
