Dhaka, Feb 28, (V7N) – A new political party, named the "Jatiya Nagorik Party" (NCP), will be officially launched on Friday, under the initiative of the Jatiya Nagorik' Committee and the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.

Organizers have confirmed that a large gathering will mark the event, with invitations extended to key political figures, including the Chief Adviser of the Interim Government, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, and all other advisers. The invitation list also includes leaders from BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, and various parties supporting popular uprisings.

Invitations have been sent to senior BNP leaders such as Chairperson Khaleda Zia, Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, and Permanent Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed. Jamaat’s Amir, Dr. Shafiqul Rahman, and diplomats from 51 countries stationed in Dhaka have also been invited.

On Thursday evening, NCP leaders handed over the invitation letters to the head of government at the Jamuna. The NCP leadership was represented by Coordinator Abdul Hannan Masud, Coordinator Nusrat Tabassum, and Joint Secretary of the National Citizens' Committee, SM Saif Mustafiz. The committee has invited 36 political parties to the launch event, though no representatives from the ruling 14-party alliance have been invited.

Abdul Hannan Masud, the movement’s coordinator, stated, "We have invited all political parties, including the advisers and interim government officials, to the event. We are particularly interested in inviting those who have taken part in the anti-fascism movement."

There have been long-standing allegations from several political groups, including BNP, claiming that the government has been supporting the formation of student-led parties, referring to them as the “King’s Party.” These claims have raised questions about the neutrality of the interim government. To avoid controversy, no advisers will be attending the event, with both student advisers Mahfuz Alam and Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan confirming their absence.
