Pabna, Mar 15 (V7N) – BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman has stepped in to provide support for two orphaned children in Atgharia, Pabna, whose plight came to light through a viral social media video.

The children lost their father in an accident while their mother was still pregnant. Tragically, their mother abandoned them on the day of their birth. Since then, they have been living in dire circumstances.

On Saturday, March 15, acting on Tarique Rahman's instructions, members of the "Amra BNP Paribas" group, representing the "Amar BNP Paribas" initiative, visited the children in Sanjaypur village, Chandva Union, Atgharia, to deliver a donation. They also pledged to provide ongoing monthly assistance.

Local residents recounted the tragic story of Altaf Pramanik, who died in a road accident four years ago, leaving behind a young son and a pregnant wife. A few months later, his wife, Lovely, gave birth to their second child and abandoned them, never to be heard from again.

The children were being cared for by their impoverished grandfather, Raju Pramanik, who struggled to make ends meet with a small shop. Their heart-wrenching situation, captured in a video, caught the attention of Tarique Rahman, who immediately directed "Amra BNP Paribas" to locate and assist them.

During the visit, Mokchedul Momin Mithun, member secretary of "Amra BNP Paribas" and an agriculturist, conveyed a message of sympathy and financial aid from Tarique Rahman. Atiqur Rahman Rumon, convener of "Amra BNP Paribas" and a member of the BNP media cell, also inquired about the family's well-being via phone from Dhaka.

The event was attended by various local leaders and activists, including Jahidul Islam Rony, permanent member of the National Press Club; Masud Rana Liton, member of "Amra BNP Paribas"; Zahurul Islam, general secretary of Pabna Press Club; Khaled Hossain Parag, former vice-president of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal; Jamil Hossain, president of Chandva Union BNP; Harun-or-Rashid; and Ashraful Islam, leader of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal at Pabna Government Edward College.

Mokchedul Momin Mithun stated, "Tarique Rahman is the chief patron of 'Amra BNP Paribas,' a humanitarian organization. Its mission is to support the families of persecuted BNP leaders and activists, as well as victims of disappearances and murders. Tarique Rahman also assists numerous other vulnerable families in society. Today, we are standing by these two helpless children in Pabna on his instructions. Although Tarique Rahman is in London, his heart and soul remain in Bangladesh. He cares deeply about the people of this country."
