Pabna, Mar 22 (V7N) - In a powerful address at a prayer and Iftar gathering in Chatmohar, former MP K.M. Anwarul Islam called for unity under the leadership of Tarique Rahman and Begum Khaleda Zia, emphasizing that the country must distance itself from corruption, extortion, and terrorism. The event, organized by local BNP leaders, aimed to pray for Begum Khaleda Zia’s recovery and honor the party’s activists who endured imprisonment under the previous government.
He said, "I am with you, brothers, and you are with me. Together, under Tarique Rahman’s leadership, we will work towards the country’s development once Begum Khaleda Zia recovers and returns. We must ensure that we have no ties with those involved in extortion, looting, or terrorism. Tarique Rahman, Begum Khaleda Zia, Mirza Fakhrul Islam, and Rizvi Saheb have all spoken of this same cause. If we follow their path, we will not only govern the country but also improve the lives of its citizens. I sincerely request that we proceed with honesty and bravery in our actions."
The prayer and Iftar event was organized by the Chatmohar Upazila and Municipality BNP, along with its affiliated organizations, to pray for the recovery of Begum Khaleda Zia and honor the leaders and activists from the Pabna-3 area who were imprisoned under the previous autocratic regime.
The gathering was chaired by K.M. Anwarul Islam and led by former organizational secretary, Abdur Rahim Kalu. Several other prominent speakers included Abdul Hakim Khan, former General Secretary of Faridpur Upazila BNP, Majeebur Rahman, former president of Vhangura Upazila BNP, and a host of other local BNP leaders.
The event concluded with a prayer led by Monowar Hossain.
