Dhaka, Apr 16 (V7N) – A high-level delegation from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has entered the state guest house Jamuna to hold talks with Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus of the interim government regarding the upcoming election roadmap and related political issues.
The delegation, led by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, arrived at Jamuna at approximately 12 noon on Wednesday (April 16). Other members of the delegation include BNP Standing Committee members Salahuddin Ahmed, Jamiruddin Sarkar, Mirza Abbas, Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, and Nazrul Islam Khan.
Earlier, Salahuddin Ahmed confirmed that the BNP had formally sought an appointment with the chief advisor to discuss the roadmap for the next national elections, which the government has indicated may take place by December.
According to party insiders, the outcome of today’s meeting will play a pivotal role in shaping BNP’s next course of action. “If there is a clear indication of elections in December, the party will focus on preparations. Otherwise, alternative political programs will be considered,” a senior leader said.
The BNP leadership is expected to assess the interim government's stance on election timing and transparency during the meeting. Political analysts see this as a crucial step in determining whether the BNP will choose the path of electoral participation or resort to renewed agitation.
