Laksam, Apr 18 (V7N)-  Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General and former Member of Parliament Professor Mia Golam Parwar has said that elections should only be held after the completion of necessary reforms, and within the deadline announced by the interim government's Chief Advisor.

He made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a workers' conference organized by Laksam Upazila and Municipality Jamaat-e-Islami at the Laksam School Ground on Friday morning (April 18).

“Jamaat-e-Islami wants to participate in elections, but those elections must be held following meaningful reforms,” said Professor Parwar, emphasizing that electoral credibility and political fairness must be ensured before heading to the polls.

The event was presided over by Laksam Municipality Jamaat Amir Mohammad Joynal Abedin Patwary. Among the special guests were Md. Abdur Rob, Central Executive Council Member; Md. Shahjahan, Amir of Comilla South District Jamaat; Dr. Syed AKM Sarwar Uddin Siddiqui, District Secretary; and Advocate Badiul Alam Sujan, along with other local leaders.

Maulana ATM Masum, Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, served as the main speaker at the conference. He reiterated the party’s commitment to democratic participation and reform-oriented politics.

The event saw a large turnout of party activists and supporters, reflecting growing grassroots engagement in anticipation of the upcoming political developments.
