Dhaka, Apr 27 (V7N) — The European Union has assured Bangladesh of its support in ensuring a fair, free, and transparent election. Meanwhile, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has requested EU cooperation in installing CCTV cameras at polling booths to strengthen election monitoring.

EU Ambassador Michael Miller made a courtesy call at Jamaat-e-Islami's central office on Sunday afternoon (April 27).

Following the meeting, Jamaat-e-Islami’s Naib-e-Ameer, Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher, briefed reporters.

He stated that, alongside discussions on enhancing cooperation in the garment sector, issues related to democracy, women’s rights, and minority protection were also addressed.

Regarding women's rights, Dr. Taher said that during discussions on the recommendations of the Women's Reform Commission, Jamaat-e-Islami emphasized that the licensing of sex workers is an affront to women's dignity and rights, calling it "very shameful."
