Dhaka, June 16 (V7N) — BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has said that the recent meeting between BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and the Chief Advisor in London has successfully fulfilled the expectations of the people.
Speaking to reporters at the airport upon his return from the UK on Monday, Amir Khasru described the meeting as "successful" and noted that the public’s demand for progress toward elections before Ramadan has been addressed.
“There is still time before February. The trial process is ongoing, and necessary reforms will be made through consensus. It will not take more than one to one and a half months to complete,” he stated.
Amir Khasru also reiterated BNP’s commitment to moving forward on a democratic path. “People of this country have not been able to exercise their voting rights for the past 20 years. The youth have never even had the opportunity to vote,” he said.
Expressing optimism about the political future, the BNP leader said he believes that the people of Bangladesh will soon regain their right to vote through a fair and credible election process.
