Dhaka, June 27 (V7N) — Former State Minister Kamal Ahmed Majumder, currently incarcerated, was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) after falling ill in prison on Thursday night. According to prison authorities, Majumder became suddenly unwell around 8:00 PM while in custody at the Dhaka Central Jail.

Following the onset of his illness, he was immediately transported to the hospital under correctional supervision. After initial evaluation, physicians at DMCH referred him to the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) located in the hospital’s new building at approximately 9:30 PM for specialized cardiac monitoring and treatment.

Inspector Mohammad Faruk, in charge of the DMCH police outpost, confirmed the development to reporters. “Former State Minister Kamal Ahmed Majumder was brought in from the central jail due to illness and is currently under treatment in the CCU,” he stated.

Bilal Hossain, a prison guard who escorted him to the hospital, said, “Around 8 PM, Mr. Majumder suddenly became unwell inside the central prison. We rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital without delay. He is now receiving care at the CCU.”

Hospital sources did not immediately disclose the specific nature of his condition, but officials said he is under close observation.

Majumder, who previously served as the State Minister for Industries, was recently detained in connection with charges under ongoing political and legal investigations. His hospitalization has drawn attention from political circles, though no official statement has been released by the concerned ministry or his legal team.

Further updates on his health condition and legal status are expected to follow.
