Dhaka, Aug 26 (V7N) – Jamaat-e-Islami Naib-e-Ameer Dr. Abdullah Muhammad Taher has said that holding elections without reforms will push the country back into fascism. He warned that the next national elections will not be allowed to take place without implementing necessary reforms.

Speaking at a friendly gathering at the Diploma Engineers Institution in the capital on Monday night, Dr. Taher emphasized that reforms must be carried out before the polls. “Those who oppose reforms before the elections have hidden motives,” he said.

The Jamaat leader also remarked that elections without reforms would revive “Awami Jaheliyat.” He argued that proportional representation (PR) is the best system for Bangladesh, claiming that it would help prevent terrorism and vote rigging. “There is no alternative to PR for ensuring fair elections. This is the only solution,” Dr. Taher asserted.
