Dhaka, Sep 27 (V7N) – Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has said that if his party comes to power, people will not have to take to the streets to realize their demands. He promised that while a “bullet train of development” might not be possible within five years, an “express train of development” would certainly be launched.
He made the remarks on Saturday morning while addressing the annual council session of the Forum of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh at the Diploma Engineers Institute in Kakrail.
The Jamaat chief said that although the country’s youth should have employment according to their qualifications, successive governments over the past five decades have failed to create such opportunities. “Jamaat wants to rebuild Bangladesh, which lies in ruins, with the cooperation of the people,” he added.
Criticizing the education system, Dr. Rahman said, “The kind of education that drags people down will no longer be given. The children of those who design the education system study abroad, and that is why our system is in such a sorry state.”
He also accused the Awami League government of fostering what he described as a “mirror house culture” in Bangladesh.
