Mongla 12 June, (V7N)- Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) central committee's publicity secretary, expressed strong criticisms of the current government, citing a lack of judicial independence, rule of law, and voting rights in Bangladesh. Speaking at a relief distribution event in Mongla, he stated that if normal political conditions prevailed, Tarique Rahman would have been in the country and Khaleda Zia would not be under house arrest or imprisoned.

Annie condemned the government's handling of crises such as cyclones Aila and Sidr, accusing them of being disconnected from the people and overly reliant on neighboring India for support. He also alleged widespread corruption, including mass money laundering that has left Bangladesh Bank lacking funds and inaccessible to journalists.

He highlighted the ongoing struggle for democracy and the pre-election detention of opposition members. The relief event, organized by the central BNP relief and rehabilitation committee under Tarique Rahman's directives, took place at Nasir Market, near Digraj Bazar, at 11:30 AM on Wednesday. Key BNP leaders, including Khulna Divisional Organizing Secretary Anindya Islam Amit, Central BNP Education Secretary Professor Obaidul Islam, Information Secretary Azizul Bari Helal, and Bagerhat District leaders Akram Hossain Talim, M.A. Salam, and Lion Dr. Sheikh Faridul Islam, were also present.
