Dhaka, Feb 21 (V7N) – People across the country, including the Central Shaheed Minar, have gathered to observe Ekushey February, honoring the language martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the right to speak Bangla. Various government and private institutions, social and political organizations, and thousands of individuals have come forward to pay their respects. As always, the youth are at the forefront of this solemn commemoration.

The tributes began in the early hours of Friday (February 21). President Md. Shahabuddin and Interim Government Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus led the nation in paying respects at the Central Shaheed Minar at 12:01 AM. At 12:40 AM, the memorial was opened to the general public.

Commemorations have taken place in districts and upazilas nationwide, where ordinary citizens and representatives of political, social, and cultural organizations have gathered at their local Shaheed Minars since midnight.

In Dhaka, long lines of people carrying banners, flowers, and garlands were seen at the Central Shaheed Minar. From children to the elderly, all joined in chanting, "Ekushey February, colored with the blood of my brother."

To ensure security, additional law enforcement personnel have been deployed at Dhaka University, the Central Shaheed Minar, and surrounding areas.
