Feb 26 (V7N) - A devastating fire broke out at Zaman Tower in Paltan, Dhaka, early Wednesday morning, prompting an emergency response from 14 firefighting units. The blaze was first reported at 5:34 AM, and fire crews arrived within minutes to begin containment efforts. Flames quickly spread from the fourth to the fifth floor, with officials still working to bring the situation under control.
Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the fire, and investigations are underway. Fire Service media official Anwarul Islam Dolon confirmed that two individuals have been rescued alive, but it remains unclear if anyone else is trapped inside. So far, no missing persons have been reported.
Despite the intensity of the fire, no casualties or injuries have been officially confirmed. Emergency teams remain on high alert, closely monitoring the situation while continuing rescue and containment operations.
The lack of immediate access to firefighting resources in high-rise buildings remains a concern in Dhaka. Officials are working to fully extinguish the fire and assess the extent of the damage as the investigation progresses.
