Dhaka, Mar 25 (V7N) – The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a comprehensive 15-point directive to ensure law and order, safe travel, and security across the country during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr. The notification, signed by Md. Ziaul Haque Mir, Senior Assistant Secretary of the Public Security Department, was released on Tuesday.

The ministry emphasized that law enforcement agencies must maintain strict vigilance nationwide, with special attention given to the capital, major cities, and ports. The Army, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Police, and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) will increase patrols in diplomatic zones and other critical areas.

  • To curb crime such as theft, robbery, extortion, and counterfeit money circulation, the directive includes:
  • Deployment of uniformed police and intelligence agency members
  • Setting up check posts on key roads and intersections
  • Money escort services for secure financial transactions

Additionally, special security arrangements will be in place at shopping malls and markets, with the deployment of women police, plainclothes officers, and CCTV surveillance.

Ensuring Safe and Smooth Eid Travel

  • To facilitate hassle-free travel for people returning home, the government has ordered strict measures against:
  • Overcharging of fares on buses, trains, and launches
  • Illegal serial payments at launch and ferry terminals
  • Overloading of passengers and extortion in the transport sector

Authorities will also take effective steps to reduce traffic congestion, especially at major toll plazas such as Jamuna Bridge, Padma Bridge, and flyovers, with ETC-enabled toll collection and drone monitoring at critical points.

For three days before and after Eid, restrictions will be imposed on the movement of heavy vehicles carrying construction materials, except for essential goods. Similarly, bulkhead operations on rivers will be halted five days before and after Eid.

The government has instructed the Fire Service and Civil Defense to keep rescue boats, divers, firefighting equipment, and ambulances ready for any emergencies on roads, highways, and waterways. Coast Guard assistance will also be sought if required.

To avoid unnecessary traffic blockages, law enforcement agencies will not stop vehicles without specific prior information seven days before and after Eid. Additionally, any damaged or accident-affected vehicles must be quickly removed from roads and bridges.

Control rooms will be set up by the Police Department and other law enforcement agencies to maintain road discipline and law enforcement coordination. These control rooms will stay connected with the Central Joint Operation Center (01320001223) of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the national emergency service (999).

These comprehensive measures aim to ensure a safe, peaceful, and well-regulated Eid-ul-Fitr celebration across the country.
