Dhaka, Mar 15 (V7N) — Matiur Rahman Chowdhury, Editor-in-Chief of Dainik Manab Zamin, has been elected as the new president of the Newspaper Owners’ Association of Bangladesh (NOAB). Previously, he served as the association’s treasurer.
The election took place on Saturday, March 14, at the Times Media Limited building in Tejgaon, Dhaka, during NOAB’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) presided over by outgoing president A K Azad. Chowdhury and all committee members were elected unopposed.
The official announcement of the new committee was made by NOAB Election Board Chairman M Mashrur Riaz. ASM Shahidullah Khan, Chairman of the Editorial Board of New Age, has been appointed as Vice President, while Altamash Kabir, publisher of Dainik Sangbad, assumes the role of Treasurer.
Other members of the committee include: A K Azad (Publisher, Dainik Samakal), Matiur Rahman (Editor & Publisher, Prothom Alo), Mahfuz Anam (Editor & Publisher, The Daily Star), Tasnima Hossain (Editor, Ittefaq), AMA Bahauddin (Editor, Inquilab), Dewan Hanif Mahmud (Editor, Bonik Barta), Mozammel Haque (Editor, Kortowar), M A Malek (Editor, Azadi), Dr. Ramijuddin Chowdhury (Editor, Purbokone), and Nasim Manzur (Publisher, The Financial Express).
The newly elected NOAB committee will serve a two-year term, overseeing the organization’s activities and initiatives.
