Sylhet, May 02 (V7N)- Prime Minister and Leader of the House Tarique Rahman arrived in Sylhet on Saturday morning for his first official visit since assuming office.

A flight operated by US-Bangla Airlines carrying the Prime Minister landed at Osmani International Airport at around 10:00 am. He was accompanied by his wife, Dr. Zubaida Rahman.

According to the official itinerary, the Prime Minister will first visit the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) to pay homage. Notably, he had earlier begun his national election campaign with a visit to the same shrine on January 21.

Following the visit, Tarique Rahman is scheduled to inaugurate a major waterlogging relief project in the Chandnighat area of the city and launch the re-excavation of the Baisha River, aimed at improving drainage and reducing flood risks.

Later in the afternoon, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the ‘New Bud Sports-2026’ competition at Sylhet District Stadium. He is also expected to attend a party meeting at the District Shilpakala Academy before concluding his visit.

The Prime Minister’s visit has generated enthusiasm among local residents and party leaders. Meanwhile, the local administration has completed all necessary preparations, with heightened security measures in place to ensure a smooth program.
