Mawa, May 26 (V7N)- A total of 44,000-plus vehicles crossed the Padma Bridge in the last 24 hours since the first day of the Eid-ul-Azha holiday, generating over Tk 48 million in toll revenue, officials said on Tuesday (May 26).
The information was confirmed by Abu Saad Niloy.
According to him, 28,415 vehicles crossed the Mawa end on Monday, collecting Tk 26,421,000 in tolls. Meanwhile, 15,593 vehicles crossed the Jajira end, generating Tk 21,594,350 in revenue.
Officials said the total number of vehicles crossing the bridge during the 24-hour period stood at around 44,000, reflecting heavy Eid travel pressure from the capital towards southern and southwestern regions.
To manage the growing traffic flow, a total of 19 toll booths are currently operating on both sides of the bridge to ensure smoother movement.
Authorities have also introduced a separate motorcycle toll booth at the Mawa toll plaza to reduce congestion and speed up processing during the Eid journey rush.
