Dhaka, Sep 29 (V7N)- Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi has said discussions regarding Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s possible visit to India have been positive.
He made the remarks on Tuesday after meeting Bangladesh State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Trivedi said India’s invitation to the Bangladesh prime minister remains open and there is no urgency regarding the visit.
He said the trip would take place at a convenient and appropriate time for the leaders of the two countries.
Trivedi said no specific bilateral issue was discussed in detail during Tuesday’s meeting. He described the meeting primarily as a courtesy call during which the two sides exchanged views on various aspects of Bangladesh-India relations.
The Indian envoy said the discussions were positive and that the overall situation in bilateral relations was also positive.
He also referred to the personal relationship between officials of the two countries and expressed a positive view of relations between the people of Bangladesh and India.
India has previously invited Tarique Rahman for a bilateral visit, while discussions have also taken place over his possible participation in regional and international engagements in India.
Bangladesh and India have been holding discussions on strengthening bilateral relations and addressing outstanding issues, with officials from both sides continuing diplomatic engagements in recent months.
