Dhaka, Sept 23 (V7N) – Saif Hasan struck a brisk 77 and Mosaddek Hossain Saikat smashed 46 off 22 balls, while Mustafizur Rahman produced deadly bowling as Bangladesh's Asian Games-bound players completed their preparations with the second and final warm-up game at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium today.
The players were divided into two teams, with Team A beating Team B by 11 runs.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Team A posted 166 runs, with Saif leading the scoring with his 52-ball innings that included two fours and six sixes. Tanzid Hasan Tamim contributed 24 from 14 balls, including three sixes, while Towhid Hridoy and Parvez Hossain Emon scored 13 and 24 respectively. Captain Liton Das was dismissed without scoring.
Ripon Mondal was Team B's most successful bowler, taking two wickets for 26 runs in four overs.
Chasing 167, Team B were restricted to 155-7 despite a whirlwind batting display from Mosaddek Hossain Saikat. Saikat shared a 67-run partnership with Naim Sheikh in just 38 balls, belting five sixes and a four before being dismissed for 46 from 22 deliveries. Naim scored 40 off 36 balls, while Nurul Hasan Sohan added 29 from 20.
Left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman was the leading bowler for Team A, taking three wickets for 15 runs in three overs and delivering 11 dot balls.
Bangladesh are scheduled to begin their Asian Games quarterfinal campaign on October 29. The cricket competition at the 20th Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan, will feature teams from across the continent, with the final scheduled to be held at the new purpose-built cricket ground in Nagoya. Cricket returns to the Asian Games after being absent from the 2022 edition in Hangzhou, where Bangladesh won the bronze medal.
