Dhaka, Oct 29 (V7N)- The National Youth Fair will not be held at the former trade fair ground in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka, this year after the allocation of the venue was cancelled at the last minute, State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque has said.

He disclosed the decision at a press conference at the Secretariat on Thursday morning, October 29, ahead of National Youth Day.

The fair had been scheduled to run for seven days at the former trade fair ground. According to the state minister, the Ministry of Housing and Public Works cancelled all allocations for the venue on Thursday morning. The cancellation came ahead of National Revolution and Solidarity Day, observed on November 7.

However, Haque said youth fairs would still be organised at district and upazila levels across the country.

Job Fair Planned for November 1

The state minister also announced that a job fair involving 55 well-known organisations would be held at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre on November 1 to expand employment opportunities for young people.

He said between 3,000 and 5,000 trained individuals were expected to receive jobs through the initiative.

National Youth Day Programme

According to the minister, President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is scheduled to inaugurate the National Youth Day programme.

A colourful rally is planned to begin from the Shishu Academy on the morning of October 31.

As part of the programme, 14 individuals—including four youth organisers and 10 successful volunteers—will receive National Youth Awards in recognition of their contributions to youth development and community service.
