A study to extend the Dhaka Metro Rail from Uttara to Tongi is reportedly under way, according to Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader.

In Uttara's Diabari, he made this statement upon the opening of Bangabandhu Corner at the DMTCL Building.

The minister stated that by June of the following year, the Motijheel to Kamalapur section of the metro rail will be finished.

He said that a decision about increasing metro rail service hours on certain days, such as Ijtema and Book Fair, will be made following debate.

"Starting on Saturday, the metro rail will run from Uttara North to Motijheel starting at 7:10 am, with the exception of Friday. The last train from Motijheel will depart for Uttara North at 8:40 pm,” he stated.

In peak hours, the headway will be 10 minutes, while in off-peak hours, it will be 12 minutes.

"I will take the metro rail on Saturday afternoon to get to Motijheel from Uttara North." The minister said, "I also strongly advise you to often take the eco-friendly and time-efficient metro train.

The metro rail system will provide the best possible amenities for travelers. The minister declared that by 2030, six metro rail lines will be operating.

Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the nation and the greatest Bangalee of all time, had a dream of creating a Sonar Bangla. He was also the great architect of our independence. His daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's government is working relentlessly to materialize that dream,” Quader said.
