Gas consumers throughout the country might face low pressure as adverse weather conditions are disrupting the supply of imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) to the transmission lines.

Mir Mohammad Aslam Uddin, Senior Information Officer at the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, confirmed the disruption and apologized to customers for any inconvenience caused.

The deep depression over the Bay of Bengal is likely to strengthen into a cyclonic storm named Remal, which means 'sand' in Arabic. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Cyclone Remal is forecasted to make landfall between Sagar Island in West Bengal and Bangladesh's Khepupara on Sunday at midnight.

In addition, gas supply from Elenga in Tangail to Kaliakair in Gazipur will be suspended tomorrow due to scheduled pipeline replacement works by Titas Gas Authorities. The gas supply will be interrupted for 10 hours—from 10am to 8pm—on Sunday for pipeline repair and relocation in Tangail's Mirzapur area, according to a press release from Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited.

Surrounding areas may also experience low gas pressure during this time.

Titas Gas Authority expresses sincere apologies for the temporary inconvenience to their valued customers.
