Dhaka, Oct 04 (V7N): Intense rainfall on Friday afternoon resulted in widespread waterlogging in various parts of Dhaka, bringing significant challenges for commuters.

Flooded streets in areas like Mouchak, Malibagh, Shantinagar, Moghbazar, Kakrail, Paltan, Dainik Bangla intersection, Khilgaon rail gate, and Rajarbagh Police Lines left many people wading through deep water as they tried to reach their destinations.

Although it was the weekend, those who ventured out for urgent reasons were caught in heavy traffic jams. Commuters experienced long delays, struggling to find public transport while rainwater flooded roads and entered vehicles, including CNG-run autorickshaws.

Rickshaw pullers reportedly took advantage of the situation, charging passengers higher than usual fares.

Kabir Hossain, a private sector employee, shared his frustration, explaining that he had been waiting at Khilgaon rail gate for half an hour for transport to Dainik Bangla intersection, but no public transport was available. "Rickshaw pullers are demanding much higher fares than usual," he noted.
