Dhaka, Apr 02 (V7N) – Even on the third day of Eid, the exodus from Dhaka continues, with Kamalapur Railway Station witnessing a higher number of outbound passengers than those returning to the capital. Station authorities predict that Friday and Saturday will see the highest influx of returning passengers.
A visit to Kamalapur on Wednesday morning revealed long queues at the commuter train counter, despite the counter being yet to open. Many travelers, eager to spend more time with loved ones, stood in line for two to three hours in advance.
Passenger Trends and Travel Observations
-
The number of people leaving Dhaka remains higher than those returning.
-
Many returning passengers have left their families behind in villages, planning to bring them back later.
-
Children like Jonaira-Jonaibad have had to return earlier due to their parents' work commitments, despite some disappointment.
Despite the travel rush, passengers have expressed satisfaction with the Eid journey this year, as ticket black-marketing and travel disruptions were reportedly minimized.
Railway Arrangements for Eid
To manage the travel demand, the railway authorities are running:
- 120 intercity trains
- Five pairs of special trains
With Friday and Saturday expected to bring peak return traffic, railway officials continue to monitor and manage operations to ensure a smooth post-Eid travel experience.
