Dhaka, Apr 06 (V7N) – After a week of calm and quiet, the capital city Dhaka is gradually regaining its usual rhythm as people return from the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays. With the reopening of schools, colleges, and offices on Sunday, the city’s roads have started to see increased activity, though full-fledged traffic congestion is expected within the next few days.
Over the past two to three days, city dwellers have been making their way back from villages and hometowns. On Sunday, it was observed that traffic pressure has noticeably increased across several major roads and intersections, though it has not yet reached the capital’s notorious levels.
Government and private offices reopened after the long Eid vacation, drawing a significant portion of the workforce back to the city. Many employees were seen commuting early in the morning, signaling the start of regular office hours.
Meanwhile, schools and colleges also resumed classes, though some institutions witnessed lower attendance as many students have not yet returned. Teachers and staff expect attendance to normalize over the next few days.
While traffic was still manageable on Sunday, commuters believe the next two to three days will see heavy congestion as the city returns to full capacity.
“Today it was still a bit smooth compared to the usual Dhaka traffic,” said a commuter from Mirpur. “But we all know it’s just a matter of a day or two before the jam returns in full swing.”
Despite the anticipated traffic trouble, many citizens expressed satisfaction with this year’s extended Eid vacation, which gave them rare time to spend with family in a relaxed setting.
Now, as the city prepares to shift gears from holiday mode back to business as usual, authorities and commuters alike are bracing for Dhaka’s familiar hustle and bustle to take over once more.
