Dhaka, Oct 23 (V7N) — A young man named Md. Zahid was killed in a cocktail explosion during a clash between two groups at the Geneva Camp area of Mohammadpur early Wednesday.
The incident occurred around 3:30 am, according to police sources. Zahid was rescued in a critically injured condition and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where doctors pronounced him dead in the morning.
Inspector Md. Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH police outpost, confirmed the incident, saying the body has been kept in the hospital morgue for autopsy, and the matter has been reported to the local police station.
Relatives said Zahid, who worked at a mobile servicing shop, lived in Geneva Camp. He went out at night with friends when he was caught in the middle of the clash. A cocktail exploded near his feet, leaving him fatally injured. He was initially taken to the Trauma Hospital, and later shifted to DMCH, where he was declared dead.
Police are investigating the incident.
