Mymensingh, Dec 22 (V7N)- A senior judicial court has granted a three-day remand to 12 people arrested in connection with the murder of factory worker Dipu Chandra Das in Bhaluka, Mymensingh. The accused face charges of blasphemy-related murder and an attempt to burn the victim’s body.

Judge Shahadat Hossain of the Senior Judicial Magistrate's Court issued the order on Monday afternoon. The accused were brought to court from Mymensingh Central Jail under tight security. While law enforcement requested a five-day remand for interrogation, the judge approved a three-day period.

Dipu Chandra Das was beaten to death on the night of December 18 over allegations of blasphemy. Following his murder, the attackers attempted to burn his body by tying it to a tree. The victim’s brother filed a case at Bhaluka Police Station, naming 150 unknown individuals in the incident. So far, 12 suspects have been arrested.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner visited the victim’s family in Mokamiakanda village and assured that prompt legal action would be taken.
