Sylhet, Nov 19 (V7N)- As Hemanta transitions into its final phase, a subtle winter chill is gradually enveloping Sylhet. The mornings in this northeastern border district now carry a misty charm, signaling the arrival of the colder months.

While the warmth of Kartik lingered unusually long this year, Agrahayan has brought about a noticeable change. Mild fog blankets the rural areas during early mornings, and the evenings have started feeling distinctly cooler. On Monday, November 18, Sylhet recorded a minimum temperature of 19°C, as confirmed by the Meteorological Department. The 72-hour weather forecast predicts an increase in the chill, with the northern cold wind gaining strength.

The onset of winter has sparked a surge in the sale of warm clothing across Sylhet. From the bustling footpaths to high-end shopping malls, traders are showcasing a variety of winter attire.

In popular market areas like Bandar Bazar, Keen Bridge, Court Point, Zindabazar, and Chowhatta, hawkers and seasonal vendors have set up vibrant stalls offering winter wear at affordable prices. These markets are seeing an influx of buyers, especially from the lower and middle-income groups, who are drawn to the reasonably priced options.

As is customary, the arrival of winter has brought a wave of seasonal hawkers to the streets. They add to the lively atmosphere, offering an array of cozy sweaters, jackets, scarves, and blankets. Both local shoppers and traders from surrounding regions are contributing to the city's thriving winter economy.

With temperatures gradually dropping and the anticipation of colder days ahead, Sylhet is embracing the season’s spirit. The festive hustle in markets, coupled with nature's transformation, paints a picturesque beginning to the region's winter narrative.
