Cox’s Bazar, Dec 31, (V7N) - Do you wish to relax in the blue waters that stretch to the horizon or enjoy the sight of a setting sun as it sinks into the sea? Then, Cox’s Bazar is the place to be!
On New Year's Eve, around 3 lakh tourists are expected to gather in the coastal city of Cox’s Bazar. Most of the hotel, motel, and resort rooms have already been booked, with 90% of the accommodations fully reserved. Tourist police are working to ensure the safety of incoming visitors, and while there will be no public events, special security measures will be in place across Cox’s Bazar.
Even during the off-season, Cox’s Bazar is always bustling with tourists, but this New Year’s Eve will see even more crowds as people arrive to witness the final sunset of the year. Business owners report a surge in bookings, with more than 90% of the rooms in approximately 450 hotels and resorts already reserved.
Abdur Rahman, president of the Cox’s Bazar Beach Business Association, said that around 3 lakh tourists are expected to visit on New Year's Eve. Abu Taleb, a representative from Hotel The Cox Today, mentioned that nearly all their rooms are booked, and while there will be no public gatherings, luxury hotels will host their own private events.
Ayesha and Masum, a couple visiting from Dhaka to celebrate the New Year, said they came to Cox's Bazar to leave behind the negativity of the old year and embrace the new one.
The administration is ensuring special security measures for the event. Tourist police in the region have implemented a three-tier security system along the beach, including complaint boxes at various points and drone surveillance, as confirmed by Abul Kalam, Additional Police Superintendent of Cox’s Bazar Region.
However, tourists have expressed disappointment as there are no special entertainment arrangements besides the beach. Despite the large crowds, many visitors feel that there are limited options for activities apart from enjoying the sea.
