Tangail, Mar 03 (V7N) - Police have arrested two individuals in connection with the robbery at the house of journalist Md. Siraj Al Masud in Nagarpur, Tangail. The suspects are Rankur Rahman Ronak (19) and Yasin Arafat (20), both residents of Nagarpur Upazila. The robbery occurred on February 27 when a group of armed robbers attacked Siraj’s mother and younger brother upon their return home after a land arbitration meeting.
According to the victims, the robbers held Zahid Hasan, Siraj’s younger brother, at knifepoint and assaulted him, demanding valuables. They also beat his mother, Jahanara Akhter, and snatched a gold chain from her neck. The attackers fled when the mother’s screams attracted attention. Zahid sustained injuries to his eye and head during the assault.
Jahanara Akhter filed a case with Nagarpur Police Station on March 1, accusing 10-12 unidentified individuals. Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Rafiqul Islam confirmed that two suspects have been arrested and sent to court, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining culprits.
The incident has raised concerns about safety in the area. Police are actively investigating the case to bring all perpetrators to justice and ensure security for residents. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
