Dhaka, Feb 28 (V7N) – The Amar Ekushey Book Fair, a month-long literary festival celebrating Bengali language and culture, comes to an end today (Friday, February 28). Unlike previous years, the duration of the fair has not been extended this time.

The final day of the fair began in the morning with the last 'Children's Hour', dedicated to young readers. Afterward, the fair opened to general visitors from 1 PM, and will continue until 9 PM, marking the official closure of this year’s event.

Children's Hour Marks a Vibrant Farewell

The last Children's Hour saw an enthusiastic turnout of young readers. Students from various schools, along with their parents, flocked to the book fair, exploring the stalls and purchasing books. The children’s corner was particularly lively, with kids flipping through pages, selecting their favorite books, and enjoying play areas set up near the stalls.

The excitement and curiosity of the children highlighted the importance of the fair in nurturing the reading habit among young minds. Many parents expressed their joy at seeing their children engaged with books, emphasizing how the fair continues to play a crucial role in promoting Bengali literature and knowledge.

A Month of Literary Celebration Ends

The Ekushey Book Fair, organized annually by Bangla Academy, is more than just a marketplace for books—it is a cultural movement that commemorates the language martyrs of 1952 and fosters a love for Bengali literature.

This year's event featured:

  • Thousands of new book releases from various publishers.
  • A wide range of literary discussions, seminars, and cultural programs.
  • Significant reader engagement, especially in the children’s and academic sections.

As the fair draws to a close, book lovers, authors, and publishers alike bid farewell with hopes of an even grander event next year.
