Pabna, Mar 05 (V7N) – A devastating fire in Ishwardi, Pabna has completely destroyed four houses, leaving one housewife dead and 12 goats burned to death.
The fire broke out around 12 PM on Wednesday (March 5) in Asna village of Saara Union, Ishwardi Upazila. Eyewitnesses reported that the fire originated from the house of Abdur Rahman Kazi and quickly spread to nearby homes. Locals attempted to extinguish the flames but failed to control the situation. Later, two firefighting units from Ishwardi and Lalpur managed to bring the fire under control after several hours.
The deceased, Hajera Begum (35), was a mother of three. Fire service officials stated that she was trying to save her child when she succumbed to the heat and smoke. Ziarul Kazi suffered the most significant loss, as he lost both his wife and all his livestock in the blaze.
Mir Amirul Islam, In-Charge of Ishwardi Fire Service, stated, "The exact cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed, but an electrical short circuit is suspected. The extent of the damage will be determined after further investigation."
Meanwhile, Ishwardi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahidur Rahman said, "The victim’s body has been taken into police custody. No complaints have been received so far, but legal proceedings are underway."
