Pabna, Apr 06 (V7N) – A 16-year-old driver, Hossain Ali, died Sunday morning when the battery-powered autovan he was operating overturned in the Jardis intersection area of Chatmohar, Pabna.
"A driver named Hossain Ali (16) was killed when a battery-powered van overturned in Chatmohar, Pabna," a local police official confirmed.
The tragic accident occurred at approximately 10:45 AM local time. The deceased was identified as the son of the late Abdul Aziz, residing in Chhota Shalika Mahalla.
"The accident occurred at around 10:45 am on Sunday (April 6) in the Jardis intersection area of the city. The deceased is the son of the deceased Abdul Aziz of Chhota Shalika Mahalla," a local eyewitness reported.
According to local residents, Hossain Ali earned his livelihood by driving a rented autovan. While transporting passengers from his home towards the Jardis intersection, the vehicle overturned while making a turn. During the accident, an iron rod from the van's brake reportedly pierced Hossain Ali's head, causing a severe injury.
"Locals said that Hossain Ali used to earn a living by driving a rented autovan. On Sunday morning, when he was taking passengers from his home to the Jardis intersection, the van overturned while turning the corner. At that time, the iron rod of the van's brake entered Hossain Ali's head and he suffered a bloody injury," a local resident recounted.
Locals rushed to the scene and transported the critically injured teenager to the Upazila Health Complex. However, the attending physician declared Hossain Ali dead upon arrival.
"Later, locals rescued him in a seriously injured condition and took him to the Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared Hossain Ali dead," a hospital spokesperson confirmed.
The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chatmohar Police Station, Manjurul Alam, described the incident as "very sad." He stated that police were dispatched to the location upon receiving the information. As no formal complaint was filed, the deceased's body was handed over to his family.
"In this regard, Chatmohar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Manjurul Alam said, 'The matter is very sad. Police were sent to the spot after receiving the information. Since there was no complaint, the body of the deceased has been handed over to the family,'" OC Manjurul Alam stated.
