Jhalakathi, Apr 06 (V7N)– The bodies of a mother and her son were discovered hanging from a tree in a garden in Nalchit upazila, Jhalakathi, on Sunday morning. Authorities are currently investigating the incident, with initial indications suggesting a possible case of suicide, although the precise cause of death remains undetermined.

"Police have recovered the bodies of a mother and son hanging from the same rope from a raintree tree in a garden in Nalchit, Jhalakathi," a local police official confirmed.

The deceased have been identified as Ruby Begum, 50, and her son, Asad Hossain, 35. Their bodies were found hanging from a single rope on a raintree located in a garden in Rayapur village, Magar union, in Nalchiti upazila. They are the wife and son of Abu Hanif Majhi, a resident of the same village.

"On Sunday (April 6) morning, police recovered the bodies of Ruby Begum (50) and her son Asad Hossain (35), who were hanging from a rope in a garden in Rayapur village of Magar union in Nalchiti upazila of Jhalakathi. They are the wife and son of Abu Hanif Majhi of the village," police reported.

Abdus Salam, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nalchiti Police Station, confirmed the discovery and stated that while initial assessments point towards suicide, the definitive cause of death is yet to be established.

"Abdus Salam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Nalchiti Police Station, confirmed the matter and said, 'The police went to the spot after receiving the news of the incident. The bodies of the mother and son were found hanging from the same rope from a raintree tree behind the house. Initially, it is believed that they committed suicide. However, the actual cause of death is not yet known,'" OC Abdus Salam stated.

SI Belayet Hossain added that the bodies have been recovered and sent to the morgue at Jhalakathi Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examinations. An initial case of unnatural death will be filed, and the autopsy report is expected to provide further clarity on the circumstances of their deaths.

"SI Belayet Hossain said that the two bodies have been recovered and sent to the morgue of Jhalakathi Sadar Hospital for autopsy. A case of unnatural death will be filed in this incident. The real cause of death will be known after receiving the autopsy report," SI Belayet Hossain said.

Police also revealed that Ruby Begum and Asad Hossain, who typically resided in Khulna, had returned to their village in Rayapur to celebrate the upcoming Eid festivities.

"Police also said that Ruby Begum and Asad Hossain, who lived in Khulna, had come to their village, Rayapur, on the occasion of Eid," police sources indicated.

OC Abdus Salam assured that a thorough investigation will be conducted, considering all aspects of the incident, and that appropriate legal action will follow.
