Chatmohar, Pabna, Apr 16 (V7N)– Police in Chatmohar, Pabna, have recovered the body of a young child, identified as Jui Khatun, from a cornfield. The naked body was discovered on Tuesday morning near a cornfield in the Rampur Beel area of the upazila. Disturbingly, the child's face bore burn marks, and her pants were found wrapped around her neck.

"Police have recovered the body of a child student from a corn field in Chatmohar, Pabna... The naked body of Jui Khatun was recovered next to a corn field in the Rampur Beel of the upazila on Tuesday (April 15) morning. She had burn marks on her face," reported a Pabna Correspondent.

The deceased child, Jui Khatun, was the daughter of Jahidul Islam, a Malaysian expatriate originally from Garfa Uttarpara village in the neighboring Baraigram upazila of Natore. She was a student in the children's class at Garfa Azeda Noorani Kindergarten Garden Madrasa.

"The deceased child, Jui, was the daughter of Jahidul Islam, a Malaysian expatriate from Garfa Uttarpara village in Baraigram upazila of nearby Natore, and a student of the children's class of Garfa Azeda Noorani Kindergarten Garden Madrasa," the report confirmed.

According to police and local sources, Jui Khatun left her home on Monday afternoon, stating that she was going to her grandfather's house, which is located nearby. Her family became concerned when she did not return and could not be located at her grandfather's residence. A search was initiated, but without success until this morning when locals reported the discovery of Jui's naked body in the cornfield in Rampur Beel. The presence of burn marks on her face and her pants wrapped around her neck have raised serious alarm.

"Police and locals said that on Monday afternoon, the child Jui left home, saying she was going to her grandfather's house. Since then, her family has not found any trace of her. This morning, locals informed the police that they saw Jui Khatun's naked body lying in a corn field in Rampur Beel. At that time, she had burn marks on her face and her pants were wrapped around her neck," the correspondent detailed.

Upon receiving news of the discovery, Chatmohar Circle Assistant Superintendent of Police Arjuma Akhter, Chatmohar Police Station OC Manjurul Alam, and Baraigram Police Station OC (Investigation) Mahbubur Rahman immediately went to the scene to investigate.

"Upon receiving the news, Chatmohar Circle Assistant Superintendent of Police Arjuma Akhter, Chatmohar Police Station OC Manjurul Alam and Baraigram Police Station OC (Investigation) Mahbubur Rahman reached the spot," the report stated.

Locals and relatives of the deceased child suspect a heinous crime, believing that Jui was raped, subsequently strangled to death, and then had acid thrown on her face.

"Locals and relatives believe that Jui was raped, strangled to death, and then burned with acid in her face," the correspondent noted.

Jui's mother, Momina Khatun, recounted the events leading up to the discovery of her daughter's body, stating that Jui had left home the previous afternoon to visit her grandfather but never arrived. The family searched throughout the night and were devastated to find her body near their voting location this morning. She tearfully demanded justice for her daughter's killer.

"Momina Khatun, the mother of the deceased Jui, said, 'The girl left home yesterday afternoon... We have been searching since then but have not found any trace of her. This morning, her body was found near the house to vote. We want justice for the person who killed my daughter,'" Jui's mother pleaded.

The deceased's grandmother, Zahura Khatun, described finding Jui's body in the cornfield during her own search. She expressed her anguish and demanded the harshest punishment for the perpetrator.

"The deceased's grandmother, Zahura Khatun, said, 'This morning I went to the corn field to look for the girl. At one point, I saw Jai's body lying there. Who killed my granddaughter? We want him hanged,'" the grandmother demanded.

Chatmohar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Manjurul Alam confirmed the identification of the body by the child's relatives. He noted the jurisdictional aspect, stating that while the child's home is in Baraigram Upazila, the body was recovered in Chatmohar Mouza. He assured that the legal process, including the recovery of the body for forensic examination, is underway.

"In this regard, Chatmohar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Manjurul Alam said, the child's relatives have identified the body... He said that legal process including recovery of the body is underway," OC Alam stated.

As of now, the identity of the individual or individuals involved in this horrific incident remains unknown to both the family and the police. However, authorities have reportedly launched a police operation to uncover clues and apprehend those responsible for the child's death.

"Meanwhile, the family and the police are yet to find out who is involved in the incident. However, it is learnt that a police operation is underway to uncover clues and arrest those involved," the report concluded.
